a proper invitation

As the popularity of electronic communication increases, it may be tempting to use one of these methods of contact for all your communication needs. As fans of old fashion “snail mail” and handwritten thank you notes, we are also firm believers in printed party and wedding invitations. With all the beautiful options for invitations, choosing the perfect one to set the tone for your event should be an enjoyable experience! The stress may come once the choice has been made….invitation etiquette. Whose names should be on the invitation, how do you address for a couple not married, is a reception card necessary, and when is an invitation to a destination wedding sent?? It can become a little overwhelming! Luckily, there are many books (such as this one) and articles (such as this one) to help answer any and all questions that arise.

Sweet Little Bundles

Happy Monday! We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. We had a great one, busy with baby showers. What could be better than fun gatherings with family and friends filled with “oohs and ahhs” over precious baby things? Enjoy the pictures below from one of our sweet baby showers on Saturday. The gender is a surprise, which allowed us to have fun with pink and blue décor!

Take a guess, a pink bow or a blue mustache.

The Aunt-to-be broke the tie with her guess….boy. Can’t wait until September to find out if she was correct!

Sad days to follow?

Although it may sound strange, it is not uncommon for brides to have low moments or even become depressed when their wedding day is only a memory. While they are starting an exciting, new adventure with their spouse, the day they have been planning for months, years, or some since they were old enough to daydream is over. A new focus may be needed – decorating your new home as a couple, starting a supper club, or researching and planning a first anniversary trip. This article from The Huffington Post includes more suggestions on how to move past the post-wedding blues….be sure to check it out if you fear feeling dreary after your big day!

a summer treat

One of our favorite summer time treats is a yummy s’more, so when we saw the idea of these treats as a wedding favor we had to share! Whether you have a fire pit going to turn the marshmallow into a gooey sweetness or you have the guests pick up individually packed fixings as they leave – they are sure to be enjoyed. It’s simple, and easy on the budget, to turn this idea into a cute favor waiting for guests to pick up!

We found these cute tags at My Own Labels.

save the date

Looking for a unique Save the Date idea? We came across just the thing…. a library card with a timeline of your relationship, including your wedding date as the last entry. We found a great deal on Etsy for blank library cards and you can easily print or hand write the highlights of your relationship. Enjoy the visual below!

No photos, please

If you read yesterday’s blog and cringed at the thought of your wedding guests posting your wedding pictures on the World Wide Web before you could do so, today’s post is for you! There are many couples that want privacy when it comes to Facebook, Instagram, and all the latest social media sites, preferring pictures not be posted or that they post the pictures.  This is completely understandable and your guests should honor your wish. The image below shows a perfect, polite way to inform your guests to keep their pictures to themselves!

We found this cute sign at Serendipity Designed.

Candid Shots

Candid pictures taken by your wedding guests are always a fun addition to your wedding photos. Thanks to sophisticated cell phone cameras and social media, disposable cameras on each table to capture these images are a thing of the past. As you can see in the picture below, it is easy to ask guests to add a specific wedding hashtag for pictures going on Instagram. There are also app options popping up that are specifically for your guests to upload their pictures from your wedding. What an easy way to have an instant collection of wedding pictures at the end of your big day! There are free apps, such as Wedding Pics and Wed Pics, and ones that have a fee, such as Wedding Snap and Photo Opp Bride Edition. Choose the best app for you, spread the word with cute signs (such as the one below) around your venue, and enjoy a great collection of candid shots!

Be sure to check out Purple Peony Couture for this and other great wedding signs!

Happy Tears

Happy Monday! We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. We had a wonderful time in Atlanta at AmericasMart gift show shopping for décor for upcoming weddings.

Weddings can make even the least likely to cry shed a few tears, happy ones of course. Witnessing this at wedding after wedding, we had to share this idea – a “happy tears” hanky in each program. It is such a cute way to spice up your program and very practical!

a little about the bride and groom.....

If you opt for a small, intimate wedding, chances are you will know each of your guests very well. However, if you or your spouse-to-be come from a large family who are all invited to the big day or your parents add their entire circle of  friends to the list, there may be guests wanting to know more about the couple they are coming to honor. Here is a way to share a little about each of you on the big day….what a great idea!

don't bother the bride.....

As the bride you may feel it is necessary to be the main contact person for all questions and issues of your wedding guests. This is where we come into play and remind you that you are the bride and need to enjoy your wedding weekend! The location you choose to prepare for your big day should be a nice, relaxing setting, not one that resembles Grand Central Station with everyone trying to get in touch with you.

We came across this great idea to include in welcome bags or to send out with the rehearsal dinner information and had to share. The title at the top speaks for itself – Please Call Anyone but the Bride. On this list be sure to include the contact number for your planner, maid of honor, parents of bride and/or groom, and any other vendors you feel necessary. Here’s a visual:

Putting Together a Quilt

Happy Monday!

We had a wonderful weekend with Sarah and Gustavo’s beautiful wedding at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel. While we intended to move on from the guest book ideas this morning, we saw their creative choice and had to share…a quilt! They had a large center piece with their initials and the guests wrote special messages on smaller squares that will be sewn together to finish the quilt. We are quite sure this quilt will be cherished for years and years! Enjoy the images below.

Congratulations to Sarah and Gustavo! We were honored to be part of your day!
